On this magazine the masthead ‘Q’ takes up the majority of the space which is on the top left and a bright red colour. The reason for it being so big compared to everything else on the page and a bright colour is so that the audience automatically recognises the brand which stands out on the dark magazine. At the very top of the page the Tagline is telling the buyers what the magazine is about and sums up the ‘Q’ in the shortest possible way. The tagline is white which instantly works with the black background ‘THE UK’S BIGGEST MUSIC MAGAZINE’ with words such as ‘biggest’ and ‘music’ it would already be appealing to the target audience of teenagers because basically all teenagers listen to music and discuss music with their friends. The colour scheme of this magazine is black white and red which works very well together, the red and the white show up very well on the black background and her dark hair. On the Right hand side of the page there is information of the content inside the magazine in a mixture of red grey and white, by making ‘The 10 best new acts’ in grey in the middle of the black white and red it stands out and is something the audience want to know. At the bottom of the page it is in bold block writing ‘CHERYL COLE ROCKS’ which is to inform the readers who is on the front page. Although they are telling you who it is, the use of a big celebrity endorsement is so that it encourages fans and people who respect what she has done in the public eye to buy it. The colour of this writing also works well with the mid-shot of her. On the left hand side of the magazine you can see more big named celebrities are featured inside such as snow patrol, muse and 50 cent, this is on the front so if you aren’t necessarily a big fan of the main article (Cheryl Cole) there is something for everyone.
