This is the second magazine I decided to deconstruct. The mid shot of the two students working gives a friendly vibe to the audience of 16+. Throughout this front cover the main colours are red from the bold red writing to the boarder of the cover. This writing attracts the reader’s eye because of the bold font and large font size. On this front cover they have put the ‘free school planner’ in the sweet spot; this is because it’s a positive thing about the sixth form magazine. Having a barcode on the magazine makes it look more professional as all big companies have to do this.

This sixth form magazine is very effective and attracts its audience well, which is mostly 16-18. The colours that are used (blue, black and white) work well together and attract the reader to look at the magazine and want to find out more of the content. The words ‘creative corner’ work well on the front page as this is the only thing on the cover that does not fit in with the colour scheme. The mid shot of the girl on the front cover works well in black and white and I think that the shadow behind is creative as it isn’t something you usually see on magazines. The central image of the girl smiling would encourage people from other schools to want to know more about the school as she looks friendly. The language on this front cover isn’t very formal and is quite chatty which again attracts its target audience.

I decided to use this image for my Sixth form magazine front cover. I decided to edit it on photoshop and blur the background and keep the main image of the person non blured.

This Barnardo’s advert is effective because of how the photo makes you feel. It is a strong image and makes you feel sorry for the girl and hatred towards the man. This makes the advert effective as it encourages people to want to donate to the company and put a stop to every form of child abuse. This is a good advert and appeals to more adults than it would children. I think it appeals more to adults because they are trying to get donations, when charities are aiming to do this their target audience is usually adults. The reason this is although teenagers care about it they don’t necessarily have the money to donate.

How I am going to make my magazine.

  • I am going to start on the 27th of october by doing research on school magazine and decide how i can make mine stand out from the average magazine.
  • Then i am going to take some mid-shots of students around the school.
  • Once i have taken the photos i will put them on photoshop and edit them so they work with the colours of my font.
  • After this i am going to start working on my magazine.
